Spirituality of Ukrainian Hutsuls historically tied to Christianity.
Some might argue that the mountains peoples all over the world had their own pre-Christian beliefs, including the Hutsuls.
And yes it's true.
It is also true that the Christian traditions in Hutsul land rites sometimes merge pagan rites with Christian.

But the fact that due to the natural environment, hutsuls often possess special spiritual transcendence and Hutsul developed sense of man as a ''religious being'', and it is known that Carpathia gave to Ukraine a lot of talented individuals; priests, state-builders, thinkers-ideologues, poets, writers, artists, and healers.
It is an indisputable fact.

The religious scholars in Ukraine give a special attention to the study of Hutsul spirituality, mythology, traditions and rituals of the calendar.

Spirituality is a synthesis of a number of properties and characteristics of the people.

We must not forget that the ecclesiological form of Christian tradition (UGCC), which the Hutsuls mostly confess, historically played important role in the state-creative(state-building) processes.
(I mean the brave attempts for an independent state in the last century, which eventually bore fruit, after the proclamation of Ukrainian independence.)
Also, the Christian tradition revived the soul of the Hutsul by -joy, hope, faith and the spiritual inner peace.

It's no wonder there is a proverb in the Hutsul region, which even in the most difficult times always send the life-giving essence of Christian spirituality.
