"How can I earn money whilst traveling?" or "how students can travel and make a profit regardless of how much money they have?"
Most likely, many backpackers will have had these thoughts at some point when they have a shoestring budget and they realize that in order to keep travelling it would help if they could earn money as well.
I'm more than sure that to make money and travel is much easier than most people think.
I decided that I should think about the possible types of work and give some specific examples.
So let's think about how you can earn money while traveling?
(Keep in mind that the list I've made is just a small part of the possibilities that may actually exist!)
So let's begin.
Firstly, all over the world in tourist cities; hotels, hostels, restaurants, clubs, beach projects (as an example: - car-rental, hang-gliding, surfing, paracending, water-skiing.) all of them - need promoters.
Even if you state the fact, that thanks to the Internet, most hotel business no longer need street promoters. In resort towns there are always seasonal motels and hotel-apartments, which use the older methods of advertising, so that you will not only be able to earn a living, but often also free accomodation; in the seasonal hostel, hotel and apartments.
xxx or cruise ship (cruise boats) which in the summer, functions as hotels.
They very often require promotional-advertisers, who for a Commission or in exchange for accommodation and meals, can do outdoor advertising for a days work.
Promoters are often needed for the clubs and restaurants, also for numerous beach based businesses, especially in the summer when the hotel, club, restaurant and entertainment activities are most busy.
(Here in one of my English-speaking lectures interesting thoughts about several kinds of marketing.)
Please remember that working in some of the above occupations or activities in some countires is deemed as illegal, always check all information about your legality on what your would like to do before hand, as winding up in a foreign Goal is not the kind of highlite of your trip you want to remmember it by.
As always in summer, in the cafes, restaurants and bars there is a need for summer staff.
In the summer you may also find work in the hostel. In seasonal cities, the hostel team sometimes consists of travelers-backpackers who work and live in the hostels in return for payment. You could do a days work (shorter if you are lucky) in exchange for free accommodation and food.
Which is very useful for the low-budget backpackers that for example, staying for a while in an expensive city such as London, Paris or Amsterdam. Working temporarily in the tourist hostel, you could not only save costs but also earn enough to sightsee.
If you are skilled in hairdressing, whilst staying in the hostel you could even offer your services of a barber or hairdresser, you could advertise your services from the reception desk and could make some good money after making the hostel this kind of benefit.
In the category "holiday jobs" some businesses in the summer need short term temporary fill-in staff or assistants. The regional local advertisement and information portals, Where employers are looking for workers, can be very helpfull.
Your Traveling adventure can also be a useful addition to put on your resume.
Young people who know the art of dancing, with the rapid mobile advertising can teach dance. (Tango, Salsa, Lambada)
Once I remember a tourist telling me that whilst he was traveling he earned a living (busking), playing the violin in places where there were a lot of passers-by.
So can others earn some money (subject to local laws regarding busking/street musicians) by playing the guitar, flute, or on some exotic folk instruments.
-You have a good voice?
- So you can sing!
-Maybe you know how to juggle?
- Then you could do that for money!
Masseurs for instance can get a good salary in the holiday period. The same can be said about the teachers of the art of yoga.
The Professional diving instructor, or a surfing instructor, can easily find work in countries such as Mexico, Thailand, Egypt, Australia, the Caribbean and Central America, also in the Mediterranean countries. (taking copies of relavent certificates would probably be a

good idea, just in case.)
There are services of Tour Escort". Many international tour operators, especially www. Indochina.com, offers budget group tours worldwide.
Salarys are not always high and sometimes you have to sign a contract for 1-2 years, but here the highlit is that you get the advantages of traveling around the world, without financial cost, and enriched with valuable experience of the traveler.
Not so long ago walking down the street I heard the tour guides conducting a tour group. And so I came up with the idea;
- "What if the young man behind will check out the various tourist guides and will study the history of the tourist town, and will try to carry out "add-hock"tours for his arrived travel countrymen?
Some travelers decide to do the car-wash. Some others go to buy food or drinks that are very cheap in the big supermarket and sell them on the beach. (But keep in mind that this type of work can fall foul of local regulations and permits issued by local law enforcement officials.)
In Mediterranean countries, Latin America and the Caribbean, sometimes tourist boat tours need helpers on the trips.
(there is an interesting portal on this subject www. DesperateSailors.com)
Sometimes the girls are working as the baby-sitter (the nanny who looks after the children) have free accommodation, meals and a weekly salary. (See the portal, Au Pair)
If you're a programmer, or know a bit about Internet advertising, you could find work setting up online advertising for local businesses.

You can also sell products online.
Even as the intermediary if there is a demand of a product.
You can sell on Ebay, or to create a website and try to advertize a product, or on one of the free sales sites; craigs-list, gumtree, Yandex and Google, etc... There is, as always no guarantee that you will be succesfull in selling online, it all just depends on the goods and targeted market audience.
Here is an interesting website www. wanderingtrader.com. English resource - "the traveller trader" web resource which tells how you can earn through daily trade.
Programmers, web designers can find work at a distance and travel tour combining with the work. (See: Elance.com and Odesk.com.)
If you are good at writing, you can earn money as a blogger. The web is full of resources that will help you to find your niche.

You can teach a foreign language, placing an advert in the local newspaper or on a local Internet portal or even on local advertising boards/locations.
Many people have an interest in popular foreign (Slavic) languages. And there is no need to have any authorization certificates. (Here is an interesting resource on the subject. www. Eslcafe.com)
A wandering photographer (having a good quality camera) can sell photos. They can try to sell their photos in various travel magazines. (See also a useful resource on this subject smugmug.com)
They can also make a good profit with their travels mixing work and leasure,
Even after the trip.
Not all of the types of activities allow you to work at a distance. If your work allows you to be productive when working outside the home, all you need to implement your plans is to negotiate with your boss about the renewal of your productive activities, but working remotely.
In the summer season, farmers who harvest fruit and vegetables are always looking for hard working laborers.
Sometimes you can work in exchange for accommodation, free meals and pocket money.
(For students and tourists in the summer season especially in expensive countries, such conditions are very favorable) Often young people from Eastern Europe earn good money for seasonal work in the Nordic countries.
If you have the skills of a Builder, you are often able to find work on the construction sites as a causual labourer. I remember in my student's youth travelling around Western Europe, finding myself in the situation when I really needed the money and find such work on a day by day basis.
Familiar friends and compatriots even wondered how I managed it, Firstly I could communicate in English and secondly I had my own tactics.
I bought a ticket on a tram for the day, riding around looking for where the construction sites and facade work was being carried out.
Then i went back and asked - if they needed temporary workers. It worked out - every time.
In many countries, businesses often need temporary workers and usually contract out to recruitment Agencies who help to provide work visas in such rich and well-paying countries such as;
- Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, Ireland and Singapore.
Moreover, the age range of candidates for employment must often be between 18 to 30 years.
There are many opportunities for volunteers (although, as for me, volunteering is definitely a valuable long-term business investment, if we consider man as moral and immortal creature) but of course this kind of activity in most - not paid.
Being a volunteer in many cases you can save money on food and accommodation.
(See interesting portals on the subject: GrassrootsVolunteering.org
IndependentVolunteer.org. http://www.gooverseas.com/volunteer-abroad/ukraine)
From the stories my mom told I heard that in the past decade (we are in Eastern Europe) had a hard time when tourists were leaving with full bags abroad "to see the world and entertain" and came with full bags.
That is, in addition to cultural, educational and resort, combined with the good at the time "buy-sell business"
It seems to me that many tourists even today thus go, for example to Turkey (for holiday in Antalya and then to stock up on goods in Istanbul and in this way at least cover their costs of the trip.)
But still, let's not turn our lives into a continuous search of earnings.
The majority of the Soviets of course relate to the youth who have little money and they both want to travel.
What starts off as a journey sometimes is not only recreation and learning experience, but as we have seen, it can be a career as well.
Of course, there are still many other ways to earn money while traveling, so if you have any interesting ideas you can share with us.
The more we know the more we backpacking tourists will use them.
