Up until 2000 the Bukovel resort was a mainly known as a winter ski-resort. It is one of the highest ski-resort in Ukraine.
In 2000 after substantial investment the resort started major expansion to turn it into all year resort catering for both the winter skiers and as a health fitness resort. Having strong transport links by both road and rail with other major resorts in the region and the rest of the Ukraine. Today the resort has been modernised and is easily comparable with all international leading ski resorts with further ambitions to become a Winter Olympics qualified ski-resort.

The resort has been created and laid out to take full advantage of the locals mountains to provide all grades of slopes for both basic training up to the most advanced of expert slopes.
Getting to the top of the slopes is quick and easy with the many chair lifts covering the slopes, giving skiers full access to over 50km of pistes. made up of 12(red) beginners slopes, 41(blue) intermediate and 8(black) for experts.

With the five mountains in the region- Babyn Pohar 1180m, Bulchinokha 1150m, Bukovel 1127m, Chorna Kleva 1246m, Dovha 1372m. Bukovel has the longest slope at over 2km long. Mt.Doyha's biggest run is over 1370m with a drop of over 470m.

The ski-resort as many across Europe is totally dependent of the seasonal changes of the climate and the usual start of the winter season is from December to April, subject to snowfall conditions, which are topped up with snow-cannons where needed. The days skiing opportunities is no longer limited by the availability of daylight during the short winter months, as floodlighting has been installed on some slopes allowing skiing time up until 8pm. Further installations are planned in the future.

The resort contains all facilities for sports, business, leisure and health: 60 km of the ski runs, 63 ski runs of various difficulty levels, 16 ski-lifts, ski school that includes a school for all the family, ski-equipment rental shops, Entertainment Centre, A man made lake with a Geo-thermal heating and a beach, Rope Alpine-park, ice skating, Bicycle park, Dog-sled runs, Horse-riding, Quadra-cycling, Airsoft/Paintball, Extreme Sports Park, Hiking routes and tours, white-water Rafting on local rivers, Snow-biking, Kinder-Club for children, Kids Entertainment Centre.

The resorts slopes have facilities for all abilities of skier from snow-virgins to top Olympic experts. The considerable space has been set aside for the beginners slopes to help them gain confidence to progress on to more complex slopes to get the most fun from their trip to the resort.
There are many professional expert trainers available teaching individuals and groups, along with expansive facilities to hire all the equipment that all skiers need to take full advantage of the slops both on skiis and snowboards.

The resort offers not just winter skiing but also has a long rich history with the local ethnic populations cultural heritage. The mountains sharp clear winter air and magnificent scenery has long drawn visitors to this region. These days they have more luxurious accommodation than in times gone by with luxury hotel complexes and guest houses offering indoor and outdoor swimming in natural steam baths and also offer facilities for health treatments based on the natural spring mineral waters that this region is so famous for. Once the sun sets the day is not over as there are many restaurants and pubs, nightclubs, saunas, sports centres and Gyms.

The resort is made up of more than just ski-slopes as there are many health sanatoriums and nearby there is the Gorgany Nature Reserve on the far side of Mt.Babyn Pohar.
In 2014 The biggest man made lake was built in the town with a beach 2km long and depth of 15m, it offers the resort a new range of water sports all year round(for those willing to brave the waters in the height of winter.)
With Powerboating, water skiing, wake-boarding, jet-skis, diving and an aqua-park certainly makes the resort truly an all year round attraction for all.
As with the ski-resort all facilities are managed with qualified instructors and safety personnel to international safety standards. The warm clear waters achieve temperatures of up to 22'C and because of its sheer size it has acquired the name as the Carpathian Sea.
