Throughout history the Carpathian oak products have been widely known and highly valued in European markets. The felled Oak products have been exported to Nuremberg, Constantinople, and even been used for the construction of the Suez Canal.
As an example, in 1878 the Carpathian Oak was praised at the European exhibition in Paris, with products made from oak grown in the vicinity of Bushtyno, Transcarpathian region. ( Zakarpattia Oblast. ) The large-sized oak staves of Transcarpathia are known of even in the remote wine regions of France, as they are used in the making of wine barrels, it is used as it imparts a subtle flavouring into the wines stored in them as they mature.
